Bridging functionality and beauty, I tend to lean toward highlighting contrast and structure, while always looking to reuse something in the process. Usually that means using wood scraps, but when I can spend a few hours looking around a salvage store, I do. You’ll notice the hooks in my curly white oak and black walnut shelf, half are carved walnut dowels, and the other half are salvaged antique door hinge pins.
